3rd Generation: 1998 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Manual Transmission 4x4 3.4L V6 175K Frame Replaced

Go Motors’ have been proud purveyors of these 3rd gens for a long time. And, we are no less picky now than we were many years ago. Beyond reason. Our bar is very high:  we want great 3rd Gen 4Runners that are beautiful and if they are not they ought to be. This one came to us to die but now has been reborn.

The “holy grail” of 3rd Gens:

The 1998 MT SR5 is a rock star among third gens. And, so, we weren’t about to just let her die like that.

Afer all, this particular SR5 MT is one the most sought after SR5s on the planet.

Here are our RECON details:

We took the old off and gave her a solid beautiful frame, new brake lines, a brand new radiator, a new A/C condenser, the 02 Sensors were regasketed, a new front bumper, some great body work, underbody is completely undercoated and painted, a new power steering rack and power steering hoses, we replaced the extended sway bar links, new cam plugs, a new and warranted cat to back exhaust system, a new clutch and clutch assembly, new rear manifold seal, new valve cover gaskets, new timing belt and water pump, new belts, the gas tank and frame was sanded, painted and reinforced and rust inhibitor was applied, 3” Bilstein Lift Kit, new Toytech Rear BOSS Shocks, 283-75-16 BF Goodrich All Terrain Tires ($300 ea.), MB Wheels.

Combine all that great RECON with a 5 Speed, a Beautiful “classic” SR5 profile and interior (no knobs, levers and switches — we love it!), courdory seats in great condition. Doesn’t get better than this! Bullet proof motor and drive-train, double wishbone suspension, and all that above and more.

For a long time we’ve sold too many of these legendary 3rd gens to count. We’ve seen them come and we’ve seen them go. Supercharged, limiteds, SR5s — the gammet. But this one is one of our favs and she caught our eye - the RECON was a big commitment . . .but well worth the ‘extra’ to preserve this beauty for many more hundreds of thousands of miles. It’s badass as it was when it came to us, that’s for sure — but now it’s still BADASS BUT restored as she should be. Under 200K, extensive RECON leaves little left other than to get in and go have fun. The 1998 MT 3rd Gen SR5 is one of our favs —- great simplicity, tough, and one of the longest lasting SUVs on planet Earth —-outstanding! THEY JUST WON’T DIE even without the RECON.
